You guys wanna help steven? Buying his first supra

Alright people, Steven here wants to get one, BAD, hes got like $3k from his parents I think or something and $1k in his bank.

He looked at one in Austin, but were pretty sure its on its way to rod knock ville, just fixed a BHG. Had a knocking noise around 2500rpms and there was more wrong with it. $2500, no no

Theres another guy here in town who owns 3, willing to sell 2 of them, a white POS with a GTE 5-speed or a red motorless GTE Auto. He wanted to get both, swap the engine to the red one, but he wants 5-speed and were stuck on the pedal thing. They are $500 each, I said get the red one and lets 1jz that bitch, hes a little worried about costs for that. Oh and the white ones engine has something wrong with it, I think 2 cyls dont fire, could be the CPS he said, he wasnt too sure, little fretful on that...Otherwise Id get it for fixing the guys 3rd one that has a BHG, I had a post about this.

Hes still looking around, really wants a GTE but hell settle for GE... Im trying to help him as much as I can, was wondering if anyone had suggestions on WHERE to look or what to do about the others.

I think hes been researching and asking, I was just thinking about this as an idea to maybe help him outta the kindness of my heart for a friend... come on guys.

nevermind. HE DIDNT ASK ME TO POST THIS. I did this on my own to see what everyones thoughts were on if he should do something about one of the supras mentioned or if anyone had any websites, or places to kinda look around for one. We live in Houston. Why the fuck is everyone bein like this today? Usually you guys are pretty quick on the ball to be helpful, not act like a bunch of 10 yr olds. I asked here bc I respect you guys and I was trying to help surprise him with new information or possibly a supra to buy, I kinda felt bad bc last weekend I cancelled plans to go with him to austin to see that other one and I was TRYING to be a good friend and make it up or so.

I was asking for just general advice on the part about the guy with the 2 beat up supras for $500, or if ANYONE knew anyone selling one around houston or in texas or if there were any other forums, websites, places we could search. Hes got $4k, what are his options, what you YOU guys do basically.

EDIT: Im sorry about the 10 yr old comments up there, just struck me as odd and everyone making posts like that. I just want to help my friend get his first supra, he doesnt know Im posting this, he will when he gets up. Hes helped me fix mine, which is going down with a bang this weekend, I was just kinda returning the favor.

Im steven... Ive posted something along the lines of this before but noone would really help or provide input.. Im really just looking for a Turbo MK3 thats ready to be a daily driver and isnt a complete POS.

The red one is in VERY good condition.. it would be perfect for any swap but i just dont know if the funding would allow me to go 5spd, 7m-GTE, MHG, ARP, New oil pump. Thanks for you guys' input.

Well its hard to get a good supra for that little cash. If the two Supras are for sale for $500 that seems like an OK deal. Other people have done 5speed swaps so Im sure you could figure out the pedals and if not, R154's can be sold to make up some of the money you put out for the car. I would keep looking but the option you have now could work. Also, price out replacement 7M's in your area. Then you can buy a mint bodied Supra with a BHG for cheap, and do a swap. That should be less that 4 grand. Good luck.

Yeah actually theres a place here that has rebuilt engine short blocks for $775. Id say get the red one and lets do it, but he wants 5-speed, I even have a 5 speed R154 I might sell him cheap but I dont want to if we have to cut up the firewall for that 3rd pedal.

My main problem with the red one is that its missing ALL engine parts.. No Intercooler, no harness, i think the motor mounts are even gone because i think the guy was planning a 1jz swap.

best advice i could give you is take your time looking for one. you don't want to rush into buying a twenty year old car and expect to daily drive it without problems along the line and money to be spent

Ive looked for a supra for about 6 months or more now...none are any good..found plenty in other states but not very many in texas
