LMAO as well, here.
Just imagine how well that filter is going to treat you as it ages and becomes brittle.... Invest in a K&N or AEM Dryflow, or something else now!

Lol, as has been pointed out here before, criminals aren't very smart. It's why they're criminals.

Like everyone I have hobbies. One of them is studying human behavior. It's good in that it can lead to introspection which, like picking your nose or getting laid, is a learned skill. The more you practice the better you get at it. The downside of studying how people think is that if you're not careful it can make you crazy ;)

I am sure that someday soon someone will install a MAFT and put the sensor a few inches too close to the turbo and maybe you guys can remember my post and save them alot of time since no one offered that as possibility to my idle problems!

I don't think it was directed at you as much as people in general. As for your mods installation, it is hard for us to know what you have done or if it was done correctly from here(the Internet). Also, it is not like the Maftpro has been around 20 years for people to be able to trouble shoot effectively yet...

wow, with the way things are going around here lately there should be some threads on personal attacks... :icon_conf

I'm not attacking you Porter. On the contrary, I'm trying to help you out. You don't think about what you're doing. Is that because you feel you know enough that you don't have too?

Look at the title of this thread. Why would anyone never believe it? It's well known (and should be intuitively obvious) that fluid flow and pressure change close to a pump inlet so why would you install something there to measure it? How do you think the turbo works? Do you believe it "sucks" the air into it? We won't even get into the filter thing.

The title of the post was there for a reason, it was edited, at first I got it to idle then it would run really lean because a piece of foam was touching the sensor when the air was pulled in. It was ironic that it dident run rich anymore and it idled fine but was running lean overall after I thought I solved the problem. The filter was temp, I would not use a cheezy ebay filter for the long haul, it came with an intake adaptor back in the day and was the right size for the space I was working with at the moment. There are other ppl on here that dont know as much about cars as you do, that does not mean they should bring it to a dealer and pay hundreads of dollars everytime they look at it, this is one reason the fourm exists.

I don't know a lot about cars Porter. I know a lot about machines and machine design though. It's why I tend to look at cars as a mass of separate systems instead of one machine. It's why I treat those systems as something other than what they're end function is. For example I view the power steering system as a hydraulic system because it is one. I then apply what I know about hydraulic systems and how to troubleshoot and care for them. This works on anything from cars to forklifts to the retractable landing gear on an airplane. Where a system is vehicle specific I factor that in yes, but to me it's all about systems.

No, people shouldn't bring the car to a dealer. Nor should they stumble around in the dark. Your Supra is a fairly sophisticated machine even for it's day. If you're going to mess with it without the proper tools and without learning the fundamentals first you're destined to continue on the road of frustration, wasted money, and wasted time.

I don't expect everyone to have the same level of experience and knowledge but what little I have was gained through years of concentrated effort. It's exactly why I'm sensitive to those who would prefer to simply take it without lifting a finger to better themselves. I view all the forums I deal with as a meduim for teaching, for helping people to help themselves, not for holding their hands because they're too lazy to learn on their own. For example, I keep asking if you own a TSRM and you keep refusing to answer.
