Yet another rim question...

I'm pretty sure I already know the sad answer to this but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I'm looking at some Volk CE28N rims. 2 of them are 17x8 w/ +33 offset (for the front) and the other 2 are 18x9.5 w/ +28 offset (rears).

No way these are gonna fit an MKIII, right? :(

Sigh. They are sooooo nice!

can't help you with the fitment question, but i'll back you up by saying those are some sweet rims. they'd look HOTT on a mk3, and the staggered offset is cool too

The fronts will probably fit. The rears may be to wide for the offset. Check this site out, and their techs might be helpful. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do;jsessionid=Czh2gWL8HgSXVpPQBTKPQlyDnQ1dMf2hpJlyF0Q71yTw9ZthSvzt!-2036288467!NONE

And this site...http://www.tirerack.com they want to sell you the rims you want, so their tech guys might be helpful too.

let us know what you go with, as the info will be helpful. :crazy1:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I've got 17x9.5 MKIV TT rims in the back and according to the offset calculator, these rims would stick out about another inch or so. Which wouldn't look bad; just don't know if it would clear the fender.

A local shop owner let me test fit some 19x9.5" Volk GTC's (totally sic!) on my car, even though he knew I couldn't buy them. They are shod with 245/40's. To my suprise and disgust(no $$$ to buy!) they fit fine. Offset was 27mm, mind you they were right out to the edge of the fenderwell, and my car is lowered, with about two degrees of neg camber. I don't think you could go much bigger on tires, maybe 255's or 265's with more neg camber, tucking the top of the rim under the fender lip. Of course the down side of neg. camber is chewing up tires like they're going out of style. You would also have to roll the fenders to assure that you don't cut a nasty groove in your tires with alot of groceries in the back! Ideally, the best offset for 9.5" s is about 35-40mm, that also allows for more rubber, and less problems. With the correct offset, Ive read that you can go as big as 11" s on the rear. I believe that the guy from MDC has those, with " 315's on the back, bizzatch!"
Good luck with your setup, and remember, we must, as Supra owners constantly remind the poor front wheel drive crowd, that we can sport "Big rollers" and they can't without major surgery to their feeble, wheel hoppin' econo boxes! :gotrice:

Peace,

91T, what kind of springs were you sporting? What was the drop in the back? Right now I've got Eibachs, but I just purchased a set of H&R's.

I have ST springs, they're 1.2", f & r. I have Eibachs on my 87. They're a little more agressive in front, 1.5" drop. The H & R's should be 1.6" f, 1.3" r, I almost got those, but changed my mind about spending that much on springs, cause I'm going to do coilovers, eventually! My friend has the H & R's on his Evo IIIV, and says there a good spring, untill he gets his coilovers. I say you should be okay with those Volks, :yumyum: as long as you don't put too big of rubber on them. by the way, what color are they?

Silver. But I'm not sure I can still get my hands on them. :icon_sad:
