guy at store says my head gasket kit needs no sealant.... I don't trust him, but what do I know? not using mhg, only boosting like 12psi. also what's the best head removal write up? Something that has all the lil tips about placement of timing cover or an of the other things I've heard mentioned here and there. I'm pulling the engine so removal is not a problem, it's correct replacement.

Guy at your store is incorrect. Some FIPG will be required for where the block meets the timing belt cover. As for sealant over the entire gasket, he is correct, that is not needed.

I don't have a link handy to a replacement step by step - however, I can tell you this. Remember to break loose the big bolt on the main pulley in the front BEFORE you pull the engine, it's just so much easier that way. It really is pretty basic, pulling the head off, especially when the engine is out. Just keep all the bolts with the pieces they bolt on, and don't worry too much about plugs - most of them cannot be put on incorrectly without a hammer. :)

^^ In full agreement. Just use the TSRM (or printouts of it) every step of the way.
