Yet another buying question...

I'm getting ready to buy a 87 turbo supra... it has 140k miles on it... but... here's the interesting part. The owner told me that the owner prior to him had the dealership install a JDM motor... Any idea what motor he might have put in? What motor does the normal 87 come with? Are there horsepower differences? I'm pretty sure the new motor is a single turbo as well but I'm not sure. Any help would be useful... and yes I DID SEARCH!

He installed a JDM 7mgte. Same as our domestic one.

it's probably the same motor that was in it. a 7MGTE. same power as the USDM motors. 230hp, and 254ft lbs of torque.

edit: and that's what you get for me having 25,000 windows open at the same time. a late response, thats the same as the one before it

I doubt it still has 230 hp nowadays. BTW it would be more like 232 hp, unless it was from an 89+ then it would have 234 hp :momaru:
It has more like 190-180 now, unless they rebuilt it which is not likely. You can make it super strong tho yourself. Check for a headgasket problem first thing, replace thigns that look worn out such as hoses etc..
OH, and try to enjoy the car! Drive it alot! It'll be down mroe often that you wish to imagine :biglaugh:
