Yet again, another rear hatch cable question.

Well I think I just broke my hatch cable, the lever it's all the way up in the front and i can hear/see the cable moving in back. I took off the rear trim and opned up the white case that connects the two cables together. I can see the main one moving ( the one from the front of the car.) And the second one is not providing any return movment. Anybody have any ideas as to what it wrong? And how can I get behind the taillights with out tearing out my interior again?

Isn't the entire release assembly behind the interior center panel in the rear?

If you just take that one piece out you should be able to figure out what's going on.
