This thread is not for anyone who feels like hijacking or ranting or anything like that. If you have time, read this. If it looks like too much reading, leave.

I bought my Supra in late September of 05. I've given it a lot of treatment and upgrades since then. There has been one thing that I've sort of neglected...Code 31. I've always had it, but it never effected anything.
My AFR was always around 14.5-14.7 at idle and 12.5-12.8 under boost...So I think that's about right. Anyways, One thing that did bother me was anytime it rained, it would lack air for the first 10 minutes of driving, afterwards, was the norm. Well, it's been like this for the past 11 months.

Starting about 2 weeks ago, start up every morning was rough. It would start on first try, but would die 50% of the time. I'd fire it back up, then all would be well.

The last 5 days now, it would do as such stated above, but instead of "all being well", it would die again. And again. With it being my daily driver and ONLY driver, I have a job to go to every day, so running pig rich was my only option. At stop lights, it would want to die, CEL would kick on, then within higher RPMs, it would be fine but miss out a bit.

Today, Go to warm it up for work, does exactly as I said ^^, but this time, it dies 3 times and then doesn't want to start back up. (Yes, I gave it time in between so I wouldn't knock off timing or whatever). So, blah blah blah, I get a ride to work, get back, start working on it tonight...When I first got back home 7 hours later, I tried to start. Same thing.

So...I pulled off the AFM, unplugged everything, checked for boost leaks (all good), spent about 3 hours just observing everything. So I put it back together, and to my surprise, it fires up. I let it warm up, go for a test drive.
Everything seems normal, BTW, it misses out the first 20 minutes of driving because I need new plugs (which I have but haven't installed yet)...:icon_conf Anyways, I get about 1/2 mile down the road and it starts cutting out REALLY bad. Runs pig rich, and the more I open up the throttle, the more it feels like my gas pedal is invisible. When I say that, I mean that pushing on the gas made no change in the RPMs, and felt as if I was doing nothing. So...Dies. Start it up, I try to get it moving but it just kept missing out so bad that it would die...(Weird thing is, start up is PERFECT as opposed to have some foul plugs and rough start up)...So I end up calling my pops and he pushes me home with his car...So now I've got a nice and purdy scuffed up bumper...:nono: That's the least of my worries though...

So the last week, I've been in the search of a stock freakin' AFM.
Nobody around here has one, I hear that my BOSSSSS man, Jon (MDC) has one, but of course, I can't get ahold of him because his phone is down (or he is ignoring me) :icon_conf ...AND I get to find a way to work everyday until I get it fixed. Aside from my ranting, could it be anything else besides my AFM?
It's having symptoms that are unexplainable...

I was going to suggest AFM, but you beat me to it. If Jon doesn't have one, let me know and I will send you the one that came off of my donor car that I took my five speed out of. It looks like it's in great shape. I will have time to mail it out to you friday if you need it. Send me a pm if you can't get one from Ron. It will probably take three or four days for it to get to you. Best of luck................lol

CHANGE YOUR PLUGS.
you have them, just friggin do it.

Next, get an AFM. Someone who lives nearby should be able to help you out, even if it means unplugging theirs, and installing it in your car for a minute to find out.

KURT: Thanks for the obvious! :icon_conf

Between getting moved into the new house, working, and taking care of other things, I only wish to you how badly I want to get around to it...
But in the transition of moving, I lost a bunch of my tools (deep welds) so I can't change them right now. And I just moved further away from all the Supra fellers, still in driving distance, but I...sort of...can't drive. :nono:

Jeff, I have a stock afm, but I don't know if it works. It might be DOA.

Free if you come down and get it....

Or I can get it to you?

Btw, phone is back on.

Awesome. Is it at the shop? If so, I'll just drive the Buick down to Columbus and get it...Surely it's gotta be in better shape than the one I have now...:nono: What time you headin' to the shop tomorrow?

I would think your problem has something to do with the cold start injector circuit or possibly the coolant temp circuit since your problem is with a cold engine.

Check your wiring for the AFM too .

Jeff

LOL. I believe that was my first guess about 11 months ago when I first realized my car didn't like rain! :icon_bigg

The wiring itself is all connected, BUT...who am I to claim myself as a wire guru. :icon_razz I HATE wiring...
You got my back on this one, Jeff? ;)

^^ All good.

I'm no GENIUS but I know general knowledge and much more...
I'm only putting 2 and 2 together here...lol.
1. It rains. My dirty air filter (sitting below my headlight) sucks up some water.
2. My car runs pig rich. Want's to die at deceleration.

Crap...I guess it equals 3...:icon_conf

BTW: I found a set up deep sockets at like 3 in the morning and said, HELL YES, I'm doing this :D, so I changed my plugs, too. But...My batt'ry is only reading like 10.8 volts & when trying to crank goes down to as low as 8.2 volts, and I tried jumping it this morning with another vehicle, but nope. Same results. I think my battery is just crap.
