xbox 360 questions

Okay I'm planning on getting a 360 either next week or the week after. Just waiting on $ It is gonna be the elite ver. As it stands gonna get gears of war,halo 3(funner than hell) and forza 2.

What I have a question on is the connection to xbox live can it be done wirelessly or does it have to have a wire running to it from the modem?

I have a wireless modem for a laptop would that also work for the 360 or not?

Not right out of the box. You can get the wireless unit from what I understand though.

if you run wireless with your xbox; you will lag out. I play halo 3 with some kids with wireless and they drop every other game and their connections are shit..

If you are a solid e-gamer via xbox 360... just run a fucking LAN cord.. Going to save yourself a lot of cussing @ your console when you drop and have shitttttttty connections.

I plan to pick one up after my 1JZ swap and I have a question: I read somewhere that when they brought out the Elite, MS fixed the "Ring of Death" thing on it that would happen to the older 360s. Did they fix that on both the newer premium 360s with HDMI along with the Elites?

dont buy gears yet,let the price drop, there still charging 60 bucks for a game thats almost a year old, dont get me wrong its a great game but with halo out now it should be cheaper. Also i have the 360 wireless connection, works great for me, never had a problem with lag unless it was lagging anyway.

no, the elite is NOT the new chipset...

supposedly around christmas the new chipset will come out, the Halo 3 editions are rumored to be the new chipset, but it hasn't been confirmed. It's also too damn expensive (new chipset is going to be cheaper so a price drop will follow it)

and wireless networks suck a fat one...

Only reason it would suck is personal problems, i run mine just fine, no lag runs great...

Wirelessly you'll need a 360 wireless adapter, they plug right in the back of the system and I think they're around $100. The elite comes with a very long ethernet cable which is what I use since my router is right near it. I used wireless with my old 360 playing halo 2, graw, etc. and it was fine. There shouldn't be any lag unless there's something wrong with your connection/isp. Check ebay for Gears of War. I bought a used copy for $30 shipped five minutes ago.

ring of death is from the box running WAY too hot...

the chipset can actually get hot enough to melt the solder on the board, that's why the towel trick sometimes works...

The 360 should have NEVER made it to market, it's a fire hazzard at worst, and a lemon at it's best...

I'm getting the 360 from a friend that only knows where the orignal controller and power and video cables are. I was thinking of just running the cord since I have a hole in my wall and no it's not from me or friends. Should be able to get it by friday due to birthday that day as of right now I'm 30 bucks short for the dam thing.

Ya the wirless plug is $100. But heard you could just get a usb one for a pc and it would work just fine for half the price.

funny, ive never experienced any problems with my 360, i have hadit since it came out, sits horizontally on top of my dvd player.
But i dont have the 360 on more than 5 hours at a time so i guess it doesnt have a chance to get that hot.

you're one of the lucky ones...

A lot of people think they should have had a recall on em since they're that bad, but M$ wants to make more money, so the ones that don't fry (like yours) go unfixed and they just do a warranty system...

They still haven't fixed the issue, they just put it back to new and patch it up. I know several people that have been through a few already...

I know my friends 360 got the red rings of death but he never turned the damn thing off...
