My winter car got stolen this morning so I had to drive the supra to work an back...

On my way back I got on it a little bit... 1st and 2nd I was just roasting the tires, then I hit 3rd and the speedo went WAY down and the rpms went way the fuck up... heheh, UH OH!

I tried it about a mile later I was going about 45 and threw it in 2nd and floored it... again, the clutch slipped to shit... one third time I just floored it in 3rd i just hauled ass....

My question:

When I put the car away about a month ago, I never had any problems with the clutch slipping... why is it now?

I'm no where near the HP/TQ rating ( I would imagine, I've never dyno'd it but I'm only on 12 PSI on stock CT)

Also, The clutch has ~3k on it and it was driven very gently with no boost for ~600-1000 miles.

Possibly you are getting a fair bit more power now just from the low temps... the colder it is outside, the more power your turbo will provide at the same boost levels.

Still, that shouldn't put you over the limit for that clutch. Is the pedal adjusted correctly?

I had that exact experience doing an informal burnout competition. About 150' away from where I started, I shifted from 2nd to 3rd and got nothing... My friends were pretty amused.

Pulled the inspection covers off and found what appeared to be a dismembered cat in the bellhousing (clutch disc fluff/fibers everywhere). My guess is that the clutch was slipping a bit while the tires were spinning, but once I disengaged the clutch from the pressure plate -- any hope of grip was gone. I left rubber the whole way so it wasn't as if the clutch was just slipping and I was a complete idiot, but it still makes me scratch my head

whats the correct break-in procedure

Its different depending on the material and the manufactor. But for the most part a couple hundred miles of stop and go. Or to be on the SAFE side act like you are breaking a new motor. The clutch i had custom built did not have a break in period :evil2:
