ok, so i was goin down the road, and I get this ticking from my engine bay(probly rod knock) so I like start to panic, and try to go the 3/4 mi. to my friends house, and all of a sudden: "SHHHHH POP!"

what happened? I didnt get any oil out of the engine, but a whole lotta coolant came out.

do I have BHG?

or is it road-side fixable? because its stranded at a church right now.:1zhelp: :cry: :1zhelp::cry: :cry: :cry:

to check for blown head gaskets check your motor oil... pull out dip stick and see if you see a murky kinda look... as if water is in the motor oil... you see water then blown head gasket.

find where its leaking from, sounds like you blew your water pump or hit something that punctured a coolant line.

that happened to my wifes supra and it was the rad hose. it made a funny sound then popped.

I'm walkin down there today, I couldnt tell where it was leaking from, because:
a:It blew out, and I couldnt get the hood open before all the coolant was gone.

b:there was so much steam that I could hardly make out the engine.

and c:it was at night, I was on the verge of tears, and I was shaking outta anger.

if it is the lower hose I would go to church every wednsday and sunday for at least 6 months. because there will be a god.

the HG isnt blown, the upper radiator hose just blew up. it must've been too dark to see!

Lucky it wasnt't the LOWER rad hose, or you'd be in church for the next 6 months.

I drove my white car for 9 months with a slightly blown head gasket. It lost about an upper tank of water every 2-3 days, more if I boosted a lot. It gradually got worse, until one day it drained the whole radiator straight out the tail pipe. I could add more, and it kept coming out.

Moral: BHG is gradual, not a sudden pop.

Good to hear it's OK, and you shouldn't have done any damage if you shut it off when it happened

Small correction.

BHG is sometimes gradual. I have absolutely seen the instant BHG (it's powedered, comes in a box, just add water and serve) as well.
