never done it, never seen it happen. In the sportsman classes at the track I used to go to, crossing the staging lights on your burn out was immediate DQ. I imagine that the rule is in place for just that reason. With someone staging behind you, and track officials walking around, its a safety issue.
Like I said earlier, I can see this happening in a BMW or some other vehicle where reverse is parallel to first and easy to slide into.... On an F-body T56, reverse is all the way on the other side and you usually have to double clutch to get it into gear... This guy is an epic fail.
I can say I have never seen either situation happen at the track. I did see an incident that was similar that happened while at a redlight. Made for an interesting story.
