a little thread... sorta like a history lesson about germany before, during and after the 2.WW?

would include a Biography of Hitler, The fall of the Weimar Republic, what happened after Hitler became the 'Führer', the Holocaust, the 2.WW etc.

i know that lots of people overseas are interested in that topic (i am very interested in it myself) and i'm sure you guys learned alot in school and heard alot about it in general but i think i can still surprise you with a few things. maybe it will also help you to understand why germans or europeans are the way they are...

i just wanna know cos it involves alot of work, searching thru materials and websites and even some translating and all, i have a lot of free time but still... so i kinda wanna know if people would be at all interested in it.

May have been nutz Matt, but he was very smart.

Kind? No.

Smart?

Yes.

*EDIT*
Please let me explain myself as "smart" is such a generic term.

Hitler was in no way a kind, or emotional man. I mean smart as in he knew how to manipulate the masses.... he knew alot about science.... he knew alot about politics, and money, etc etc etc.

Just become some one is smart, doesn't mean they do the world or themselves any good. What he did to all those poor people in the camps wasn't "smart".... of course not.

I'm interested! It would be a privilage to hear the point of view of a person who was born in Germany (you were born there, right?), and who can probably access more information than your average college student here in America.

I studied European history quite a bit in high school, but my memory could also use some refreshment. It'd be nice to have a place to debate history.

Dave

PS. How detailed are you thinking? You are in fact talking about a time period about which you could find whole sections of books in a library.

Yes, I'd like to hear a German's point of view on it. I've also seen a lot about it on the History Channel, used to be an avid viewer lol.

I find Germany pretty fascinating and would like to go there someday. I'd like to learn to speak german too. :)

Well, Adolph was elected with a plurality, just like Bill Clinton. That means more votes than the other guy, but not more than half.

He was pro-abortion. He murdered elerly and retarded children in the name of science after euthenasia was legalized. He said Jews arent real people(just like unborn children). He was a big government socialist. And of course his answer to "the Jewish Question" was to evacuate them(murder them).

While Adolph didnt personally commit these acts, he had complete authority after the legislature was disolved and he became defurer instead of chancellor. He had his SS agents and Nazi party police do it.

Yeah...He was very smart...used propaganda to motivate his stroops and demoralise the enemy..remember his planes would drop leaflets form the planes....his best scientists designed the v2 rockets...and when they were defeated, USA captured the head scientist and Russia took a few.
One guy's private army...SS almost took over the whole world..

My dad had tons of books on war history in his personal library. I used to read them all when I was very young...Forgot most of it tho...but it was very interesting.
Cheers,
Roy

CT: yes i was born and raised in germany.... i'm still living there every once in a while, lol

Anomili: I dunno how detailed it is gonna be... very detailed in certain things that is for sure...
I decide in regards to what i know and in regards to what most people overseas do not know. i was talking about it with my bf quite often and was able to surprise him with certain things, so i will go into detail when it comes to that. also i will try to get rid of the historical blabla, the complicated words, just to make it easy to read and understand.
hope that made sense.

maybe there are topics that you guys would like to know about... i'm open for suggestions.

one reason why he won with a plurality is cos he murdered his political enemies.... for example the left wing politicians... there were real killing sprees going on after hitler got his power.

he was not really pro- abortion... he only made (forced) women to get an abortion when the child was disabled in a mental or physical way. that had to do with 'keeping the race clean' and also he needed healthy men that could go to war for him and healthy women that will give birth to those and will work while the men are fighting in the war.
hitler wanted and made women stop working so they could become mommys and give birth to lots of kids.

Yeah.

Hitler claimed that emancipation was something invented by Jews. He said that for the German woman her "world is her husband, her family, her children, and her home."

In August 1933 a law enabled married couple to obtain loans to set up homes and start families. To pay for this, single men and childless couples were taxed more heavily.

Anyway, Hitler wanted the German population to increase, to encourage women he offered rewards such as marriage loans, tax allowances, and health services. They were not supposed to work and there were indeed medals for women who had a large family.

Young girls were taught that way of thinking in school ('Goal is to have lots of kids and to take care of your husband').
