Scrolling through supras online I find a white fully loaded 5-spd T/T 1989 for sale. I read further into it and find this:

This car had a small fire after something apparently fell onto the turbo and started burning down the intake hose.

I start to close the window but then i see this:

NEW Factory Remanufactured 7M-GTE Engine (just 7200miles)
Assembled with a COMETIC Multilayer Head Gasket
Torqued down 20 over (85 lbs/ft) with ARP head studs
New Gates Timing Belt
NEW Factory Remanufactured Toyota Turbo with larger housing (same compressor), a T63 Turbo (makes up to 18psi)!
Spec Racing Clutch with resurfaced flywheel

From the pictures you can see the beginning developments of some surface rust on the hood, and a tiny spot on the drivers door. Other than that the body's great.

so what do you guys think this car's worth? I was thinking around $1500 cash.

Thanks for your input/help, guys!

Oh yeah and I forgot (not related to the above car)
How much $$ does a blown head gasket run ya? Looking at MHG and ARP studs

ARP studs = 120$ ish
headgasket = 120$ - 300$ depending on what headgasket you get.. which will depend on if your head is warped. if it is you just need to buy a 2.0 mm HG ( near 200$) and have head machined :D 20$ or so from what i hear

So if I were to just coincidentally find a white '89 turbo/targa 5-spd with a BHG for $1500 OBO, it'd be a steal of a deal?

EDIT: forgot to ask the second part of the BHG pricing question--what if the car was 1076 miles from me, and I had to pay someone at a speed shop to do the headgasket while I was there. How much would i be looking at all together including labor, the MHG, machining, and the ARP's?

$3500 - $4500 if they're worth a shit. They have to remove & tear down the motor to install a MHG.

$200 for the MHG
$100 for the balance of gaskets (cheap set, add $200 for Toyota)
$75-100 for surfacing the head (only surfacing, add $150 for valve job)
$100 for new head bolts
$120-150 for surfacing the block (not including removal & tear down)
+/- $50 for misc items (oil, coolant, ect)

So you found someone to do the labor for $500?
