Hey all,

I recently procured a 1JZGTE while purchasing a transmission for another car and I've decided to do a full rebuild of the engine except for the internals seeing it only had 37k kilometers on it. But I don't know much about engines yet and figured it was a good learning project for me seeing its such a good motor. My questions for you are where do I start with taking the entire engine apart and where can I get the special tools needed to do things like pull the pistons out and such. I will post pictures as well.cam 029.jpgcam 030.jpgcam 031.jpgcam 032.jpg

Thanks again.

U need a 10mm 14mm 17mm and 14mm 12point socket. Pretty straight forward.. just to warn you most of the factory bolts inside are torq to yeild. Not reuseable. Replace them with arp. The mains rods and covert the head to studs. Their is no real special tools but a puller for the crank pully and the timming gear. . Most of the gaskets are mls and reusable. U will also need a vavle spring comressor to get the vavles out of the head. Sure their is some stuff I missed but that about covers dissembly. And do not reuse your flywheel bolts either

well the issue I am having is, I am stationed in Okinawa and don't know where to get the tools I need. I have tryed at about 12 different auto stores with nothing to show for it. I had to get my bellhousing bolts for the stand at a machine shop that everything was written in japanese and if I didn't see the pictures of bolts on the side I probably never would have found it.
