Hi Guys,
Recently replaced the a/c compressor, evap, expansion valve, and air/dryer. Prior to this i've had no idle issues..
Here is what happens, on a really hot day, i start up with no issus and idling is perfect, put the ac on, idles jumps up where it should be. Drive for about 30 minutes, turn the car off, let it sit for about 15-30 minutes, attempt to start, but it won't, i have to give it gas, and when it does start, the idle drop right to 0. I then toke it for a drive on the hwy and as i'm coming off the ramp because the idle has dropped the car shuts off. This has been happening for about 1 month now. I usually put 91 octane, and the car has 160000 km on it. So i decided to put 94 octane and it's only happened once. I took the car to my toyota mechanic and it didn't do the problem. Today was the hottest day yet and really thought it would happen. Any ideas?

i'm thinking maybe it needs plugs? I wonder since the ac is putting strain maybe something else is wrong?

I look forward to any suggestion and thank you in advance.

Regards

Randy

I think you Canucks are also suffering through serious heat right now. That is the problem. There might be no actual defect other than the fuel pump is old and doesn't deliver all the volume it needs. Say only 95% at low speed, and you vapor lock.

The system has a built in correction for it, but it can only do so much in the heat.
