it really depends on what you're going for. if this is JUST a daily driver, no mods or anything, i'd rather have the w58, as it shifts more smoothly than the r154.

for any powerful car, definately the r154. it's good insurance.

along these lines, is the NA diff a weak link as well? I might swap my tranny out with my motor, but I would like to keep my NA LSD. If its gonna grenade on me as well Id like to know it might go beforehand. Cuz if thats the case it might be cheaper for me to just buy a beat up looking sup and swap everything over.

ive bled my clutch tonigt.now the clutch uptake is at the top of the pedal stroke almost when the pedal is released, now it is like a whole new box,no more forcing it into gears esp 1st and reverse dosnt crunch (though it does make a lil grrrrrr sound if i dont leave it in 4th first)I guess the clutch must have been worn in as it has smoothed out (5puck spring center brassbutton)I guess having a properly adjusted clutch is as important as the care for the box, what ever it is.

N/A and Turbo diffs are the same. (Different ratio only).

Running a W58 on a JZ is easier and cheaper than an R154, because with the R154, you need the 1JZ bellhousing and a 1JZ flywheel, neither of which were sold in North America on a car from Toyota, meaning, aftermarket or buying new, or paying to ship one from Japan (or other countries in the area that got the 1JZ).

The 6-speed V160 (Getrag) MKIV transmission was found on the MKIV Twin Turbos (2JZ-GTE), and yes it will bolt to either a 1JZ or 2JZ, but the shifter doesn't line up with the stock location in the MKIII, I don't think it fits into the tranny tunnel without hammering it larger, you'd need a custom driveshaft, and a rear end with approx. 3.20:1 - 3.30:1 gearing, or else 1st would be really useless and 6th would have a lower top speed than 5th does in the stock MKIII.
