i tested my coolant temp sensor today(and adjusted my TPS, what a PITA!) iv had a coolant temp code since i got my car running, and the coolant temp sensor is fine. my question is, how do i find out were the break or short in the wiring is? i checked were the wires come out of the wiring harness to the connector and checked the connector, they all seem fine. i still have 2 wires hanging on the intake side of the engine and i still have no idea were they go. are they a part of the ground? HELP PLEASE! thanks

Check you cold start injector and isc. As far as a short in the wire...I would run a continuity test from the end where it plugs into the temp sensor to the point where it plugs into the ecu. That at least will confirm that you actually have a short. Also, does your temp gauge work in the car?

yes! my temp gauge does work. its the coolant temp sensor that goes to the ECU that is shorted out. i think i checked the right sensor, but i havent found a diagram or information that shows what sensors are what.

an update and more questions. i have searched a little and found very few usefull threads. so i bought a JDM 7mgte, installed it, had a few problems, but now it runs. and runs pretty decent. the problems i am having is it is throwing a few codes, hard starts, and it idles high. the codes are 22, 24, 41? (the coolant temp sensor one) and the throttle postion senser one. i checked what i thought to be the coolant temp sensor(i cant seem to find any info on the sensors on the thermo housing) the top one on the side of it. that checked out good. i tried adjusting the TPS, which i think i did right, the method on the TSRM confused me a lil, but i think i got it right, but that code is still being thrown, and when i go WOT with the key on , engine off, the 3rd TEMS light does NOT come on. also my throttle stop skrew was backed out way to much to were it was not touching the throttle plate. i turned that in to were it barely stops it, i couldnt find anything on how to adjust that. but my theary is that the ECU not recieving a coolant temp signal is causing my car to idle very low when cold(around 600) and be hard to start, and idle high when warmed up(around 1500). when i plug up the air tube that goes to the ISC it idles at around 700, idk if thats an acurate way to see if the ISC is whats raising my idle or not. also my car wants to die when i touch the throttle when it is really cold. but once it warms up it runs perfect other then the idle. o and the throttle response seems a lil laggy also even when warmed up. and my AFM is good. and suggestions?
