Wiring Harness

Does anyone know where I can get a after market wiring harness for a MKIII. I have a 87 MKIII with 60k original miles on it and the wiring is dried out and causing problems. I have replaced a wiring harness here and there but there appears to be a issue somewhere else. The car is a Arizona car so a lot of the wires are dried out. Its causing it to drain the battery.

I probably posted this in the wrong section as well sorry for that.

Thanks for any input.

I think you have the right section, no worries there. At least its close (unlike plenty other threads... lol)

Dr. Tweak of Pheonix Tuning does rewires on the harness. It's not cheap, but it looks to be top notch work and its about the only "professional" option around these days. Plan on spending $500+ for the full harness.

Might be a lucrative business coming up for MKIII harnesses. I know that once I'm able to get a daily beater and have the spare cash (6-9 months) I'll be pulling my harness as I'm sick of random wires breaking or going to rewire a plug only to find the wire filled with green corrosion.

I would also recommend signing up for azsupracentral.com. Not sure who's posting on there anymore, but there are some good guys (and a couple gals) down there that share our hobby/obsession. :)

I'm on azsupracentral.com and there really isnt too much going on over there came across this just by searching online for info on some stuff and supramania came up 9 out of 10 on my searches so figured best option. I picked up my supra last year from a buddy of mines old roommate he left behind while he went to school and needed cash fast so picked up the car for a steal for the shape its in and the amount of mileage it has. obviously 23years later it needs some loving.

I'm doing a wiring harness for Bri7man - all the terminals and wire seals are still available, the only issue is some connectors - but some are still available from Toyota, and most existing connector housings can be reused with fresh pins, assuming they're not cracked or broken.

That's the hard part for me... I need virtually every last connector. Mine are all horrible. I think one of my ecu connectors is ok. That's it. :(

o_O that's a huge help, Kai!!! Is this where I offer to mail you a bj or is that later, lol.

Time to start tallying the cost.

Any recommendations on actual wire? Id love to maintain the factory colors if possible, but I haven't found anywhere to buy all those specific color combos. :dunno:

Thanks again that list is a huge help.

Yup. I can get most of them if not I have some spare harnesses that I can grab some good used ones from.

I'd look fpr some ptfe wire. It's fairly cheap, you can run a gauge smaller, and it doesn't catch on fire.

Very nice... Wes, at Earnhardt Toyota in Mesa is another really good local resource for you Arizona guys. Not to derail the thread, but if you haven't eaten at Chino Bandido yet, and you live that close... you're missing out. ;)
