Ok, took the '90 down to a local tint shop today. They saw the car, quoted us $150 for the film we picked. Ok, they start and we go wait. about 1.5hrs later guy comes out saying we can't tint the car. I go out there to see WTF is going on.... They're saying the heater lines on the car are to big b/c it's an older car so the tint won't stick on the back window. Then they continue to say they can't do the small rear side windows b/c they can't reach them and the interior needs to be disassembled. So the guy continues to tell me the car is old, dirty and not a good car to tint.... :icon_evil I looked at the heater lines and they're not bigger than the ones on my 4runner, my mk2, 89 buick etc.... so WTF is wrong with this shop? Any tint shops ever give you mk3 guys grief over this stuff?

When I got my alarm installed I asked about tinting and they said my supra would be a tough car to tint because of the heater lines and the window defrost wires glued to the window. I am wondering how all the other guys on this forum got there car tinted and having it not look like garbage?

Find another shop to do the tint. The guy quoted you that and after he looked at your car, just didn't want to put the time and effort into it. Supra defroster lines are the same as any other car.

My car has been tinted since the early 90's from Ming, and guess what...NO peeling or bubbling. Ifact when the car was broken into Ming did the rear quarter window no problem. Took them about 15min for on quarter window and didn'r remove any panels. You get what you pay for from Ming.

i got my car tinted....and yes quarter panel windows are a bitch to readh but certainly possible..it took my guy about 30 min or more just on one side...he had to keep taking it off and reapplying it to make sure it looked ok....

as for the rear one...the guy did that ok for me...it still hasn't peel or bubbles and has been over a year so yea.....go to another shop

i got my windows tinted as well. mine was done in about 2hrs or so. the guy who did it is extremely good. incredible scratch resistant tint. i can take my key to it and it wont scratch up. but i think in the process he knocked off one of my rear defroster connectors (connecting to the window). so now i gotta find out how to fix it, im too scared to solder it.

You don't have to solder it. Permatex makes a rear defroster repair kit. There are a few kits available but the one I'm thinking of is a special adheasive that conducts with the defrost lines. Go the the permatex website and check it out. http://www.permatex.com/auto/autogr.asp?automotive=yes&f_call=get_item&item_no=21351
