I got my letter today telling me that I have passed the interview, and my schooling will begin in about 2 weeks for the new Thyssen-Krupp steel mill that is now being constructed. Starting base salary is $50-55K. I just wanted to share the news!

There's a possibility that after completing the schooling, I could be sent to Germany for hands on training as well. That money is really good in the low cost of living state of Alabama, especially for someone with (basically) no college.
Here's a link to their site, with a video on the new plant. If you watch the short video, watch for the cranes inside the building that move rolls of steel. Most of them have a "driver" flying around inside. I hope I get a chance to operate one of those.

^Ya, I live about 10 miles north of Mobile. The plant is supposed to be 25 miles north of where I am. If gas were so expensive, I'd ride up there and check out the site.
Congrats! I just wish you guys would have (and hope you still do get) the KC-45 Tanker contract. This area could use some more good paying jobs.
I think we will end up with the KC-45 when it's all said and done. I think the Air Force has had enough of Boeing
