will not stay running

Same crap different day. Now my 1991 Turbo will crank right up and idle fine then about 30 seconds it will just drop rpms to 200 or 300 and sometimes die. Crank it right back up and the same thing. I did notice driving right before I parked it that it drove fine but when I let off it, it would cut outbut when giving gas it was fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated because everywhere I have taken it before to get worked on don't know anymore than me which is not much. I would rather just change crap out and guess just like they do but alot cheaper.

A few basic things you should do like checking spark plugs and wires. Also, It could be valve cover gasket leaks oil so badly into the spark plugs area which cause the problem you have. Just do that first then update with us.

Check your codes first.

Then check your isc.

No codes it just flashed non stop. Where is the isc and hoe do I check it???

Plugs and wires are good. It does not miss or anything while revving it up only dies at idle.... ISC?????

IDle speed control valve. its on the intake manifold with a big black case and air and coolant lines running to it.

Got the car to semi idle. But when I rev it up and while it is on its way down to normal idle it jumps back up to 1100 or 1200 for a second or two then drops to 700 (sometimes dies). I did notice alot of smoke but looked like black smoke and stinks. I have no cats kinda smells like it is running rich. Checked the isc, cleaned it put it back on (clicks when engine turns off)... I need some ideas, help with this one.

Somebody mentions TPS and mass air meter. Could either of these cause this problem?? I don't want to just start changing stuff that might have nothing to do with my problem.

wow 60 views and nobody has had this problem. Today it cranked right up idled alittle high around 1100 was not smoking as much revved it up sounded good no problems then it just dropped rpms and died. Cranked it up again and died..
Ideas????

Thanks Suprahero for the help!!!!! Problem solved it was the mass air sensor. I changed it out and idles, runs, and drives like she use to..... Thanks everyone for the help. Maybe this post can help others....
