will an exhuast leak cause your valves to burn up

is it true that if you have a leak on your exhaust manifold it will cause your valves to burn up on a toyota

These cars almost never burn valves. The only thing i have seen cause any toyota to burn a valve, would be tight (or non-existent) valve clearance.
