without much mods to the bumper supports? I'm looking at the Meagan 28"x12", but if it involves a lot of cutting I'd rather get the 22"x12". Is it a big pain in the ass to mount?

i saw a picture of the large megan IC mounted in the aap section of the old SM site, and it did fit with no major modifications (just barely). making pipe for it is a different story.

Does the nose have to be pulled off?

I'll be purchasing this intercooler in about 2 weeks as well, my bumper is already completely off and from what I remember of the old thread, you WILL have to relocate your oil cooler and overflow bottle. Other than that though, no major fabricating. Doing it with your bumper on would be more of a pain than its worth I would think, its not that hard to take the bumper off anyway. I'm curious about piping though... I know you need to throw a 180* bend on the inlet to get it to curve back towards the turbo side, but are there other fitment issues?

I have a 28"x13"x3.5" Spearco core mounted in my Supra. We had to move the oil cooler, coolant overflow, and cut up some supports and weld in new ones for the intercooler. Not exactly a bolt-on installation! The exit comes out in the factory spot, but the hot air on is all screwed up because we couldnt' clock the turbo down, hence why I'm getting a new mani to replace my HKS unit...

Yep it will fit. Just did mine the other day. I actually left the nose on and didn't have to mod the support at all. The water bottle has to be moved and the oil cooler can just be put behind the intercooler, see the pics. If your doing your own piping a 180' is the easiest way. I did but will change it soon. The intercooler will sit a little low but if jamed right up there will come to the exact hight as the stock front with no lip. Use two jacks to hold it up in place as you get it right then use metal strapping to hold it in. The IC install was a piece of cake compared to doing custom pipes, but im happy with them.

Which bends did you end up using? In the picture I see:
(1) 180*
(2) 90*
(5) 45*
And some straight pipe...

I'm ordering my Megan IC/piping soon and it would really help to know which bends I'll need to use to route this back to the stock intake manifold. Are you bolting this to the stock turbo? What couplers are needed? I'm assuming 3" > 2.5" x 2 for the IC, how about turbo/tb?

Thanks in advance!!

Thats not all the piping I used. For the lower pipe I used 2.5" al. I used 1 x 180', 1 x 90', 2x 45' and 1/2m of straight. this lower pipe was hell easy to fit. Take the original off the turbo and use the 2 x 45' to make an exact replica of it. 180' to do a u-turn from the IC and 90' to turn it towards the back of the car.

The upper I used 2.75 Stainless steel. I used 3x 45' 1x 90' and 1/2m staright. 90' to go straight up from the IC, 45' to go thru the snorkel hole and a mix of the straight and 2 x 45 to get to the throttle body. This was truely a fucker to fit.

Ill take some pics of them fitted later today.

With the sizes the stock turbo outlet is 2" so I used a 2"-2.5", but this will depend on your pipe size. I replaced the 3000 pipe (recommended) as it is a bottle neck and the throttle body has a 2.75" inlet which was perfect for my 2.75" upper pipe. I posted a pic of all the finished pipes taped together b4 i welded. :bigthumb:

Great! That truely does help... Did you end up using aluminized steel or just aluminum? I see you are from Australia so I'll skip asking where you got the piping ;) I am personally gonna go with 3" I believe, since both my MAF (which I will run inline where the 3000 pipe would be) and the inlet/outlet on the megan IC are 3" (correct?). The only thing I'm having trouble finding is the 2" > 3" silicone adapter from the stock turbo to lower IC pipe coupler. Any ideas for this? The reason for 3" is because future plans for this motor include a very high flowing turbo and I'd rather not do the plumbing twice. Thanks again for your input so far!

Edit: Sorry didn't notice you already said it was stainless steel -- disregard that question.

HOLY PIPING batman. I see you went from the drivers side to the TB. It does shorten the route to the Turbo though.

With the 3" to 2" why dont you do 2.5" pipeing for the lower pipe until you do upgrade? Then just replace the lower piping. Maybe just leave IC until you get the Turbo?
