Will a 1987 7mgte wire harness, motor, and trans fit into a 1989 supra shell?

I'm currently trying to do a swap, ran into bad luck everywhere. 1 I had a 1989 supra 7mge... Had a rod knock so I sat it and was gonna pull and fix, grandmother got sick so I had to rush her to the hospital and on my way to go back home it blew. I recently bought a FULL motor swap from a 1987 supra. I was wondering if the 87 harness would run ok in the 89....

My only worry is where the plugs in the dash will meet to the ecu... I've heard there are a difference between 86.5-87 and 89-92. Sorry if this topic has been posted before btw. I tried to seach everywhere but no luck on answers

There are differences in the 86.5-88 and 89-92. 89-92 used grey plugs while the previous years used yellow plugs. If you are trying to use an 87 harness with an 89 ecu, I can tell you now its not going to work. Your best bet is to use a harness that came from your year model supra.

The engine harness for the 86.5-88 is different from the 89 which is different from the 90 which is different from the 90-92. The chassis plugs under the dash are different for all those years and there was a change in the main power plug in the engine bay from 90 to 91 IIRC. The ecu plugs are the same on 86.5-88 and on the 89-92 as described above with the earlier years being yellow plugs and the later models having grey ecu plugs. I also believe there are some sensor plug differences between pre and post 89 models.

I'll just buy a shell I found locally. Turns out it is the same year as the motor I bought lol. Then I can save my shell for a big build instead of something to just run for a daily
