Got my innovative lm1 wideband with datalogging today.. im trying to mount the bung on my downpipe but am not sure where... i didnt get the heat sink or i would put it closer to the turbo... I have a good spot about one foot after the stock o2... or i have another right by the tranny before my test pipe.. which would be better? I assume i will get a better reading closer but dont know if it will cut down on the life of the sensor or get too hot...

so closer to the turbo or farther away...?

thanks

I just installed my AEM Wideband and I have it right up beside the stock sensor. It may get much hotter up there but I would also assume that you get a much more accurate reading than you would down by the test pipe. I could be wrong, but I figured that toyota placed the stock one up there for a reason. Can anyone confirm this?

there's a huge debate about wether heat kills wideband o2 sensors or not... I don't have a f'n clue wether it does or not but I mounted mine right where the downpipe straightens up. works perfect for moi.

yeah... i went to the innovative website and in one of the instructional videos it says to put it right before the test pipe... Thats where i ended up mounting it but...i thought it would get a better reading closer...

Calibrated the o2 sensor and it works great... running my new turbo setup at wastegate boost... about 9.7psi... tuned to get a good 11.5 mixture all the way to redline... car feels good.. now im trying to download the datalogging on here... heh..

tuesday i should get my boost controller and start tuning for about 1bar... woot.

I come from a land down under
No debate really it does reduce their lifespan and it's a good idea to mount them away from the flame front.

I can't see how having one mounted closer would be anymore accurate as long as there is no leak in the pipe between the Turbo and the 02 sensor.

Response time is another matter as even with a heated sensor you can get slow readings and cold sensor errors if it's too far away.

Maybe I was wrong. . .it just seems like there was a reason for the stock one to be placed so close to the turbo. . .I dunno, mine is placed right next to the stock one and it's been great so far, but I can not say anything about the o2 sensors lifespan in that area since i have only had it installed for about 2 weeks

they sell a heat sink for the o2sensor... then you can place it right next to the turbo... i didnt get it so i placed it right by the tranny... seemed to work good... well see when i turn up the boost...
