Alright so i am getting a wideband soon and didnt attempt to do the screw mod... when i get the wideband do you think i can safely back the screw out?

how many people do the sogi mod on a stock afm with the stock injectors? how much extra pounds of boost can i safely run with the screw backed out?

Yes, you'll be fine. Chances are you can back it all the way out, and boost until you hit fuel cut, then turn the boost back down just a bit.

Watch carefully on the wideband, and do it in small steps.

I have mine turned out entirely, even at 13-14 psi black smoke still comes out of my exhaust at WOT. I have also done the 12v mod.

Yes, the 12v mod is when you bypass the pump resistor so that the pump is no longer being switched between 9v and 12v. It is being constantly fed 12v.

on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to do? i thought this was a sogi tip but i dont see it on there....

edit is the point of the of the 12v mod to make sure the fuel pump is pumping as much as it can?

*edit2* alright i just found the article and noticed that it helps when tuning so thats cool and you just bypass the resistor... its silver? in passenger fender... anyone have a pic of it... all the posts i saw no one did

*edit 3* is there anyway to open up a resistor and take all the stuff out of it so it looks stock?

just take the resistor out. it cleans up that fender. ill take a pic of it later. its in the car's hatch, but the cars not here. get yourself a bigger fuel pump(walbro 255) if your going to do the 12v mod. forget opening it up and cleaning it out. why look stock if your not.

Be careful with the black smoke must be rich idea. I had a car here that would leave a big black cloud when you got on it. Put a wideband on it and it was pig rich on spoolup but leaned out to 12.9-13.0 once up on boost.

i have yet to put the wideband near my car. i know i need too **slaps own hand in shame**. i puff a lil smoke when i get on it, but not all too bad. my afm swrec is all the way out. i have a el chepo summit brand a/f gauge, and im doing ok SO FAR. i also check my plugs once a month to make sure everything is ok.

spark plugs are the window to a good engines health. know their condition, and know the health of your engine.
