Hello guys, ok im getting close to finishing up wy 1jz swap and i need to know a few things like what is a wideband and what is a afc and what will they do for me and which would be better, and arent they kindathe same thing? also what would be a good set up for a 1jz, and does any one know what the highest psi you can squeez out of stock ct12a's with out fucking them up? and i got an igniter and it says 96 avalon on the side and has 89621-22030 for the part number on the factory sticker, i was told it was a 2jz igniter which i heard work with the 1jz, is this the right part? please and thanks for any and all help guys

the wideband and safc is for tuning, the wideband reads air fuel mixture in the exhaust gasses, and the apexi safc is a piggy back fuel controller, it is able to add fuel or take it away throughout the rpm band, but only for wot. also do lots of searching before you even begin, and have it tuned professionaly on a dyno.
as far as the stock twins, they realy dont like to see high boost and i would not go over 12 pounds if you want them to last at all. and when you tune with a safc you can not change boost pressure without retunning.

search, search, and then search again.

get a downpipe if you haven't already and then purchase the SAFC and wideband.. on my car, I have a boost controller, but with the amount of boost creep the twins see just with a 3" downpipe, I doubt you'd need one. (mine has been zeroed out since day one)

wideband is important for being able to see you AFRs (VERY important), and the SAFC is a great touch to clean up the AFRs and gain some more power (generally, the car will also respond better and run smoother).

cool thanks guys, would it be pretty straight forward with hooking up the safc and wideband to my modified soarer harness? and what brand wideband would be the best bang for the buck cause i saw that one on driftmotion but it said it does not come with display, and would i need to do anything to my modified soarer harness for it to be tuneable.

I have a AEM uego, but it doesn't datalog (without an external reader, or standalone IIRC), which is the only downside to the unit IMO.. The innovate units and some others have the datalogging ability outside of using a standalone.

most of the time I wire in my own electronics, but for my AFC Neo and WBO2, I had a shop do the work because there wasn't time and the cost wasn't too bad.. however, the wiring appears pretty straightforward if one knows how to splice/solder/shrinkwrap the proper wires.

lastly, a standalone ECU is basically a unit that replaces all of the functions of the stock ECU (unlike a piggy-back system like an AFC, which retains the stock ECU and adjusts air/fuel).. when used properly and with someone who is adept at tuning, they can usually unlock all the potential a motor has with assorted modifications. this is usually an upgrade done when the limits of the AFC are surpassed, but many have done them from the start for future ability (so if you have the funds.. well).

i havent seen a standalone for my soarer harness any places i should be looking, what about a zeitronix widebang are the any good, also does the 1jz have fuel cut or does it do like a spark cut deal and just drop cylinders for its rev limiter
