So a month ago my stock transmission went out. My car at that time had a South bend 6 puck clutch in it rated for like 450 ft. lbs. Well we pulled the tranny off and found that the clutch was also worn down to the rivits. SO i had to get another tranny and another clutch. So i got both. Got a used but good tranny from a friend, and got a new ACT 6 puck clutch rated for like 700+ft. lbs.

a month later...(now) That tranny also went out. Got another tranny from a 92 supra and took my car to a tranny shop. They just pulled my old tranny out today and found that my ACT clutch was ALSO worn down to the rivits... that clutch is only a month old why would it be so worn down already?? SO im on my 3rd tranny, and going on 4th clutch.

First,
Just a clutch disk does not really determine power handling ability.
You can put the best disk in with a POS pressure plate, and it will slip.

Second,
If you had a good pressure plate, then most likely the clutch was not adjusted correctly,
and it has been slipping,
or your driving around with your foot resting on the clutch pedal.

And you did not say what was wrong with your trans.....

is your clutch correctly adjusted?

how much do you slip the clutch?

is the wear only on one side of the clutch or both?

fly wheel was machined.. i have no idea exactly what went out on the tranny im guessing they shop just junked it. The clutch was worn on both sides, but my last one was just worn down on one side. The clutch holds fine and doesnt slip. Im really not hard on my car i usualy only do one gear pulls and never launch it hard or really never launch at all for that matter. The new tranny is in and im driving it and its driving great and shifting very smooth.
