check to see if your liscence plate light on... if it isnt it might be shorted or opened. the running lights and the liscence plate lights are usually the same circuit on most cars and for some reason the LP light circuit tends to burn itself out the fastest.

Did you recently do any dashboard work? When you click it to the second position (should just be dash lights and running lights) everything works properly? And if you turn on the headlights (third click) all the exterior lights come on, but the interior lights go out? Am I understanding you properly?

If that's the case, check your hazard light switch. If it's unplugged, your dash lights will go out as you turn on your headlights.

ok what i did was put new white face gauges in and removed my old ones other then that i didnt make any changes. ok so i turn the key over to the second position and i dont get any interior light no map light no guages no light around the key no lights around the key holes on the outside i dont have any running or parking lights but i do have the digital numbers on the climate control. when i cycle to the third position the on position i get my "idiot"lights light check engine and battery but i the climate control numbers turn off and my glove box light comes on the climate control works fine but there are still no lights at all in the car my head lights and brake lights and tail ligths work fine im so confused im not ignorent of electronics i know some but this just stumps me
