Check out ebaymotors. You can get a 130A alternator for a 86-92 Supra for about $100-$130 shipped.

I also gotten a MR2 alternator from my JDM motor but I never used it because I already had a new one.

I'm running it b/c I had the same problem running FAL's. It's a direct bolt up, and the application is a '91 MR2 turbo w/ p/s. 27060-74180-84 12v 100a .

The only thing I had to change over was the pulley and have the i.d. (of the pulley) bored out by a machine shop.

I'm running the mr2 alt. as well. Use a pulley from an '89+ and you should be golden, Ryan. The stock Soup plug fits np. If you have any probs locating one, I can get you a rebuilt one in Bby. for $140 cash from "buddy".

I just ordered the 130amp alternator from Egay.
I imagine it is simply a rewound, stock alternator, or maybe they use a different type of regulator or IC's. I had planned on doing the MR2 alternator, but didn't want to deal with squeezing that oversize badboy in there with the fuel plumbing I have.

No, just a little bigger, but I've got an FPR line right behind it, and I didn't want things to squeezed together back there. I read that it'll fit with no real mods at all.

I come from a land down under
I was being "nice" ;)

If the stock Alt isn't keeping up think of the drag then going to a larger capacity Alt = even more parasitic loss so in the end just how much of that "free power" is left to move the car?

this discussion could go on and on...

but I will make a comment that the stock alternator on our cars ia a bit...small for the amount of electronic equipment...

Never understood why people fit electric fans when there is a perfectly good mechanical one fitted from stock. Must be an astehtics thing:dunno:
