I have a 1991 supra 7mgte and put my new prosport gauges in today. A/F, OIL PSI, and BOOST. Well I have the A/F and the Boost working great. The oil psi on the other hand went crazy.

I turned on the car and the oil read 50psi.....I thought holy shit.
Any ways I took it for a spin aroung the block and what would you have it, I stopped in front of my house and the thing went to 120psi. I cant figure out what is wrong. I triple checked all my connections and made sure everything was how it needs to be.

So my question is how can I fix my problem? lol

I have a new pressure sending unit from DM installed to, its oem. Maybe thats the problem? Or do I have to use the pressure sending unit that came with the oil psi gauge?

I would use the one that came with the gauge because different gauges take different readings of the same signal and the one that came with it is the signal that the gauge reads.

Stock gauge or sender is bad? Like I said, it's used by the ECU...

My stock gauge is bad. I thought it was the sender, I put a new one on and th gauge didnt read still. So its the gauge. Thats why I have the prosprt one now. Ill put the sender that came with the gauge on tomorrow and let yall know what happens. Its getting to dark to work on the car.

Thanks for the help again.

Read the next page.

OP: The MKIII's oil sending unit is very unique. Not that connecting an aftermarket gage to a stock sending unit is a bright idea to begin with..

Ahhh, i missed the 13 in the ISC system. Interesting it looks at oil pressure for ISC. Wouldn't have thought of that, Though a good idea.

Wow what a PITA that new sender is from prosport. It is the same thread size just it is to fat. Well I used a tap and die kit and made it smaller. Fits like a charm now.

Thanks for the help guys.

Are you saying you put the prosport sender in place of the factory unit?

no. The little adapter for the oil filter. it didnt want to go in. I bought the adapters and they didnt work. But I could get the stock sender in fine. Idk what was wrong with it. It just didnt want to fit.
