Anybody have a tip or trick to getting the overflow bottle, brand spanking new and white? I picked up a pretty clean one at a junk yard and want to make it absolutely white as can be. My current bottle is ok, but its not white or new looking. Now I have one I can take my time with off the car. ;)

Any solvent that works well? I've tried plain water, water with a little bleach and no change was apparent. I dont want to ruin the sensor, but I would love the bottle to be shining white!

Thanks!

I was wondering the same for myself, but only my problem is worse. I have black, soft, gooey stuff in the bottle, I wonder what that is.:3d_frown:

You can get it pretty clean, but the yellowing is age/heat/UV and the only way to fix it is to replace it in my experience...

After buying a car with a BHG, I cleaned the junk out of it with strait Simple Green cleaner, and a few marbles.
After putting a few ounces in, and the marbles, I shook the crap out of it.
(pun intended)

ultrasonic cleaning bath with industrial detergent cleaner (Alconox) is the only thing that got mine clean.

Bleach it I did it doesn't make it 100% but it works well. just fill it with thick bleach and leave overnight. then rinse well. and repeat if required.

I sprayed the inside of mine with purple power and let it sit for a couple minutes. Used a green "scratch pad" type of thing to scrub the outside. Looked fairly good.

The best thing i've found is to put a load of rice in and some soapy water and then shake it. The hard rice is quite sharp and gets into all the corners nicly. I used this method on a car which had a BHG and it got all the oil out.

^ truth. Cheap plastic distorts and changes color with age.

Need a white bottle?

Step 1: Remove 7M
Step 2: Install decent engine
Step 3: Install new bottle
