Whining Sound from Drivetrain

Today I've noticed a whining sound that sounds like its coming from my drive train. I searched and now believe it has something to do with the drive shaft or LSD. It only whines when I'm changing gears while I am accelerating and its only for a second. As the car is unfortunately my daily I need to get this figured out asap. Any help is greatly appreciated

Might be the lsd. That's how mine is right now. It whines everytime the gas pedal is down. Thinking about getting it rebuild or just getting one to replace it.

The trans will usually make whining sounds in first and second gear.

No, only while changing gears when accelerating

Quick update, it hasn't done it the last few times I've driven. Its made the noise probably a half dozen times total

Now whines on decel as well, am going to check for metal shavings tomorrow

Just pull the e-brake on and with the shifter in neutral wiggle the driveshaft.

"should" have 8>12 thou movement

Is that measureable without tools? It sounds like it shouldnt move much at all

It's a "feel" thing, you'll know if it's excessive, 8>12 should be a slight rock of the shaft, if it's bad it'll clunk backwards and forwards

Alright, ill have to jack the car up tomorrow and do it. I wiggled it at the diff and it didn't move
