I'm bored and getting paid to look this up for you LOL, plus you are also from Canada and had the ambition to put a 7M in a 4runner

In a 1990 Toyota Supra, the manual transmission R154 has a reverse switch on the side of the transmission case.

The red with black wire leads to the taillamp harness and connects to the 2 back-up lamp bulbs.

The yellow wire comes from Junction Block #3 Pin B14, and is supplied by the fuse box, and the relays etc etc.

Should be a simple and and out as long as:

Power gets to the switch
Switch opens in R gear
Power makes it from switch to bulb holder
Bulb holder makes contact with non-burnt bulb
Bulb is properly grounded

hmm..it seems the that on the truck its the same as the car. there are 2 wires on the side on the tranny. i have found those, and yes one is for the 4wd (transfer case), the other one as i mentioned is on the side for the reverse. but there are 2 wires, assuming both go back to the driver/passenger side back up lights.

so say if i splice into the 2 wires going into the side of the tranny and splice into the junction box ## b14 it should work right ??

and which one is the junction box #3 ? is it the huge connector, meduim connector or the smallest one.

thanks for looking it up man, atleast your getting paid for it.

If I understand what you are saying right this sentence might simplify things.

"Put power from somewhere, even if a temporary jumper wire, on the yellow wire of the reverse switch, put the transmission in reverse, and the power from the yellow wire will then go into the red/black wire"

As long as your power source works whenever you hook it up (key-on/fuse works etc) and the switch works and the switch red is connected to the bulbs and they are grounded, you shall be ok.
