I've never seen on that will work outside of a Toyota shop. Many folks have borrowed the tool from their local Toyota shop, actually.

I personally made something work - a big C clamp and a small piece of plastic plumbing pipe that I dremeled a slot out of to get needlenose pliers into. This method only wprks if the head is off the block, of course.

Wasn't there a trick for that using two pieces of PVC pipe? I've read about it before, but never in much detail.... details would sure as hell help me out tomorrow.

my neighbor had a well, 8 ft lon piece of 1" wide pipe, I cut out a section to use pliers for the locks, and this is what we do...

One guy presses the pipe over the ratainer and compresses the spring, 1 lock is already in and sets in place, while its down I place the other lock in place, let up, it locks, were set.

I used a piece of conduit with another piece bolted onto it. One was a lever, the other was a short piece with a slot cut in one side. Used the cam cap holes with a bolt...

So I presume to remove the keepers all you need to do is stick a magnet down the pipe opening?
