I have a 1988 Turbo 5spd. How can i tell which transmission came with my car. I have looked through all my paperwork for the car and i cant seem to find it anywhere. Is there any tell tale signs by what year or engine, ect.

Yes, it has the turbo emblem on the rear and the original window sticker says its the turbo model. I just bought the car a few weeks ago so i was not sure which it was. Thank you.IJ. said:
Yup, also as a backup method there should be a stiker on the driver's doorjam with a huge barcode, the VIN, Date of Manuf, Color Code, Transmission, etc. etc.

and all this time ive spent wundering that same thing. but now, is there any phisical diffrences to it? what if it were swaped out at one point?
ha, yea i read in my Chiltons book that the r154 was much more heavy duty and bigger. Thats good i looked on the door and i have a r154 which is awsome! lol
