i am going to be doing my tune up in the next few weeks and am scrounging up my parts for it over the next few days and i have some questions.

what plugs would you guys reccomend because i heard some negative talk towards platinum plugs im looking at one of following ngk's
Laser Platinum BCPR6EP-N-8 * #
Iridium IX BCPR6EIX

the tsrm calls for bcpr6ep-n-8
oh shit btw what tool do you guys use to check the clerances on the valve covers, and when i pull the valve covers off to check the spacing do you guys usualy reuse the valve cover seals, mine are like 1k miles old,

and most important what do you guys use to replace the screw style guys that hold the valve cover in place, i hate cross head screws on engine parts and want to put some kind of allen head or 10mm . what spec do you guys use??
im also gettin
royal purple tranny
new rubber lower turbo hoses and IC hoses
hopefully new ngk plug wires
replacing every belt exept timing belt
and injector cleaner before i do plug change.

any opinions???
also where do you buy shims for the valves, can i get them at the toyota dealer or at any parts store?
loaded post i know

I know a lot of people use the Autolite Copper Core 3923's if you want to save some money. Dr. J has proven them to 450+ rwhp if I recall correctly...

I have used the Iridium plugs before and thought they worked great, but switched to the Autolites for simplicity's sake. Hard to find the Ir locally, but I can get Autolites at the Wal-Mart for like one dollar or something like that.

I LOVE my Iridiums!

When I was in the initial stage of setting the Standalone up I fueled it up so badly most normal plugs would probably never fire again!

Can't comment on long term as they've only been in there for 4000 KM's but I'm pretty impressed so far!
