i have an 82 celica supra w/ a 88 7mgte. i am currently trying to decide on which piggy back to use. the greddy e-manage ultimate or the maf-t pro. my question is has anybody had any exp. on woriking w/both units and what kind of concerns they had. the turbo has been upgraded to a 57 trim, head has been ported and polished, upgrade throttle body, lc-1 innovative wideband and hks boost controller.

hey i demand a picture of the car :p.. but what else have you done to support your 57trim? injectors maf sensor fuel pump? or u running standard fueling? i am interested in this aswell. i was actually just going to fully replace my ecu with a stand alone unit. its the best way for tuning really. (or so i believe anyway) piggybacks are in my opinion a waste of time.

Piggy backs are good for what they are designed for in my eyes, which is for BPU cars with generally light upgrades like injectors and a bigger turbo, but are still stock internally and are aiming below 450rwhp.

Standalones are for people aiming higher than 500rwhp mark where they need to be able to tune at pretty much all RPM’s

Personally if you are just going for a quick street car and you want the most simple piggy back setup go for the SAFC-II, 550’s and lex AFM. If you have a bit more money to spend get the MAFT-Pro. It’s a great unit. It has some really nice features that a person who is aiming for higher numbers would find useful.

Plus if get all the MAFT-Pro feature you will actually save money I think for all the features of the MAFT-Pro its close to the $700 range but if you were to go and buy all the features by themselves you would spend over $1000

300 Boost Controller
300 SAFC
300 Wideband
250-400 VPC (Used)

So by those numbers, the boost controller and SAFC are almost as much as the MAFT-Pro with all the toys... Hmmm... Kind of makes it a no-brainer if you want both of those functions.

This is starting to sound like a better and better thing to me.

I presume that it can be tuned for larger injectors as well, making my Lexus AFM redundant...

I am personally running the SAFC. I already had the boost controller and lex AFM so for me it was easier and cheaper to buy a used SAFC-II to accomplish my power goals. I do believe the safc and lex afm have supported 600rwhp.

Dont take my numbers for fact search around first .....

good info--but, which one is the easiest to tune for a beginner-novice tuner like myself. did purchase the map-ecu and found it totally confusing when trying to tune

the maft gen2 is a second generation maft, which uses a gm maf sensor. the gen2 you cannot run speed density.

the maftpro is the only unit that you can run speed density (map sensor)

i've found wot tuning is very easy on the maftpro. the only things that take some effort are the boost controller (esp on an external wastegate) and the part throttle/response tuning. it has a few hiccups and quirks to it, and really takes some time to dial it in.
