which gasket maker??

Pulling off my tranny oil pan soon and have two tubed gasket makers and i have people on both sides telling me one is better than the other. Which one of these have you guys had experience with.

I personally used blue when I did my tranny oil pan. The backs should say ideal uses. The black is for areas in contact with oil (ie. valve covers, oil pan), so out of the two I'd go with red.

I'm not sure that makes sense. Black should work.

Golden rule of RTV!!! Listen up!
Apply it, and let it sit for a while.
Keep testing it for surface tension.
If you touch it, and you get RTV on your finger, it's not ready.
once you touch the RTV and nothing transfers to your finger, but you leave a fingerprint in it, you're ready.

100% agreed. Toyota FIPG>any permatex sealant. the fipg is much stickier, thicker, and seals better. i use it instead of RTV on EVERYTHING.
