the stock fuel pump will be fine, but if you plan on doing future upgrades to increase HP.. then get the walbro.

My opinion,

forgo the Walbro 255 UNLESS you can verify that the dealer in question is legit.

I would do a Bosch 044 instead of the Walbro just because the 044 can handle higher pressure without breaking a sweat.

I'll be swapping fuel tanks over and in process will be replacing 20 yr old parts so I'll checkout the bosch.

Have you heard about anything bad with running the bosch 044 intank?

Yea heard about the czech ones. Just wonding about running an external pump internal. I'm thinking putting 2 044s intake for my 2j when I go single.

Ran one with a Denso in tank and by comparison it was MUCH louder Dave!

The 044's are much the same as the intank 040's, the only difference being the 040 has a screen instead of a tapped boss so it should be fine, there's a company in the USA that does a nice AN Filter sock for the 044 to use in tank.

The 040 flows less the the 044. I've also heard the 023 is the 044 in a 040 housing? Just talk though, no real info.

No dice on the 040 pump. I was told by a few 'reputable' people that they had it tested and that it flowed the same as the 044. Bought one, spent $50 to have it tested, and found out it's barely half the flow of an 040 at 70psi. Looks like we're going to have to stick to the 044's for high pressure and high flow.

On another note, had a Supra out testing with these yesterday, went 6.09 in the 1/8th at a crappy 1/8th mile track.

I think from memory there's a 15>20% difference in flow from the testing a bud with an EFI shop here did, personally I'd go German 044 if I could find them, I couldn't so ended up with a pair of Aeromotive Tsunami's here.

here's my list from slowest to fastest from my research (which is coming from memory):

- stock mkiii $cheap
- walbro ~$100
- stock mkiv TT ~$150 used, ~$250 new
- 044 bosch $?
- aeromotive a1000 pump ~$350 new

i'm interested in the stock mkiv...but need to see some prices on the bosch.

Can an 044 be run external? Or is it strictly an internal pump?

EDIT: Ok, I see it's an inline pump (external). Can you run the stocker in tank and the 044 external at the same time?

I'm not sure if I'd run a stock pump feeding the bosch external (inline). I dont think itll flow enough for the 044 to operate effectivly. I'd just get a used mkiv denso or a walbro to feed the 044. That setup should be good till 700whp or so.
