Tryin to stay fairly cheap and simple should I. My car is a 87 NA.

Rebuild 7mge and go with turbo off of gte and gte wiring?

Straight swap in a 7mgte with wiring and ecu?

Buy 2jz-ge and go turbo?

Rebuild 7mge and spray it for about 125 shot?

Spray is gay and by no means cheap, ya wanna go juiced expect a rebuild on the engine at the very least the rings every 6 months or so depending on how much you use that kit. I always say build a good engine not just a half ass engine with a nitrous setup.

None of those choices are cheap. The cheapest would probably be to go 7mgte, but if cheap is a main concern then you should probably get rid of your supra. If you rebuild it cheap, then it's just going to tear up on you again, and again, and again. Good luck.

well i know none of them are cheap. But im saying im not very familiar with the 7m's or 2j's and I want a boosted motor that I can drop down in there and do some mods and get in the low 13's high 12's. I was thinking about buying a ebay 7mgte with harness and ecu and dropping it in. The only other thing i think i would need would be an intercooler and some small misc. stuff right?

do whatever gets you to your goals. noone can tell you for certain which is better, just what they prefer. research and get rides in cars that have the motors you want.

Is it me or does it seem like the 2jz's hold up better than the 7m's? I mean all I ever hear about is rod knock from 7ms but hardly anything about 2jz's that alone might be worth the hassle to swap it in and turbo it. Has anyone on here done a sucessful 2jz na-t conversion in a mk3?

Thanks for the help guys.

I come from a land down under
If you run them out of oil or detonate them the 2jz will still have the same issues as a 7m but they're more tolerant by design.

As much as I love my 7M the 2jz is the better motor.
(think of the late 7M's as practice for the 2JZ series as lots of changes made were used in the JZ's)
