I got mine at a store called "Autoaid"...they just brought out a huge container with a bunch of washers in it, and let me pick out the ones I needed...I would think AutoZone should have them.

I have also been told that you can reuse the old ones if you heat them up with a torch before putting them on? Not sure how well that actually works, though.

I found all but two at AutoZone. The store I went to had them in a ton of different sizes, they were all behind the counter.

Annealing the old ones softens them up. It's not going to fix them if there's a gouge in them, but the surface is smooth it could work out alright. I'd rather use new ones and not worry about it... it's not a bad idea if you're in a pinch though.

Never reuse fuel o-rings or copper washers. Sure it will often work, but do you really want to take the chance with 40psi of fuel behind it? A burnt engine bay is much more expensive and time consuming to fix than getting the parts to do it right.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jeff.

New copper washers are cheap. Spare yourself an expensive mistake and buy a few new washers before you put it together.

Not that I'm an advocate of it but people have been re-annealing copper washers in aviation for decades. They're what seal spark plugs on piston airplanes. A whole lot more pressure than fuel and it works fine. I also have a Bosch K Jet equipped engine that uses the things all over the place and often re-use them after a bit of heat without problems. K Jets run at 80 psi.

Not that you should do it unless you have too. Fwiw you can buy a complete assortment of the things for not much money from most industrial supply places. MacMaster-Carr for example. That way you'll have them around when you need 'em. Same with O rings, ect. Beats buying stuff one at a time. Not to mention the hassle saved.

What does heating the washer do to it?

The rule is that after it has been crushed once, get a new one. Which is why they are included in the kits.
