Where does this ground wire go?

Obviously, it's been a while since I took the baby apart.

There is a groud wire the runs alongside the big starter lead, however, it doesn't appear to be long enough to reach the starter. Anyone know where this is supposed to be bolted to?

Thanks in advance!

On my car it definitly did not bolt to the intake manifold. It's a ground right off the battery, and for me it went to one of the bolts holding the A/C bracket to the block. IDK if they changed it between years; but to me it seems a bit odd for it to go to the intake mani. But again, could have been something someone before me did to the car and I just don't know.

On my car it's bolted to the rear-most intake manifold lug. Considering the wire is aged and basically has zero flexibility at this point, I would assume it came that way. It also mentions in the TSRM to remove this wire from the "rear of the engine", whatever that means.

My car is an 88.

I've got the same issue with zero flexibility. It was a serious PITA to get this to bolt to the manifold, it was bent all wrong for it. I figured that was just the way it had been hanging there since I pulled the engine, but perhaps not???

I don't think it would reach all the way to the rear most lug... I got it to the third one with some effort.

Here's the way it should be....

There is a ring terminal consisting of multiple ~16 gauge wires coming out of the engine wiring harness that grounds to the lower intake manifold. That's whre the ECU gets its ground from.

There is ALSO a ground coming off the negitive battery terminal that goes directly to the block CLOSE to where the AC bracket bolts to the block.

I attatched pictures of the ground to the block (brown wire) and the ground to the manifold.

I hope that helps someone

any place on the block will be fine. dont worry about it. i think i have that one bolted to one of the studs that the jtube fuel return thing is bolted.

any place that has direct metal to metal contact with the block will be fine.
