#6 runner is very common.
Suppose to be the hottest cylinder.
If its not possible, the manifold collector would be a good location.

are you on a stock mani?

Stock mani here....I was hoping to put it on the collector portion before the turbo but it doesn't look like it will go there due to clearance issues. I've heard the #6 area but wanted to get the common temp.

I've heard people putting it in the turbo outlet elbow but due to heat and energy losses through the turbo (uh-oh, now I'm talking thermodynamics from my old college days) you wouldn't get a true reading (although the losses are probably negligible for my application and the gauge I am using probably has more error built into it than that). But anyway, I guess I have to stop being such a freakin' perfectionist and just mount the damn thing in the easiest accessible location in this case would either be the #6 area or the turbo elbow.

Pics would still be appreciated however...

the safest place is after the turbo...incase the probe decides to break and go in the turbo......bye bye TURBO!

Might not be the best place for reads but is safe.

If I can remember correctly your reading should be ~300 degrees cooler after the turbo.

as others said, hot side of turbo pre-turbine. That is where HKS put the EGT tap on their sport turbo for our cars, so that's good enough for me.

Thanks guys for the pics. If I had my exhaust manifold off I would put it there but I think I may have to settle for the turbine housing. I appreciate the pics.
