Where do I begin?!

So here goes--I just bought this 88 Supra Turbo from my fiance who bought the car strictly for it's built 500hp motor. HE insists that the motor from his 91 is plenty enough for me and is planning on doing a swap and keeping my car "bone stock". But...I'm thinking not...so because he's no help, I'm hoping you guys will be. I've got this 7M-GTE about to go into my car and I'm curious what I can do to up the hp just a tad.

I've done my homework so I don't come in here as some stupid girl (I LOVE Supras and am totally happy to finally have one of my own!). So where do I start? New air filter? Boost controller? I'm not looking for some 500hp beast, but the stock 230hp isn't doing it for me....

Make sure the motor is nice and healthy and then boost controller is a good start, from there you can.....well sky is the limit. But a boost controller will give you a nice "boost".

The motor is good, as far as I know. I got to beat on his 91 for a little bit to test it out and it seemed fine. It just had the head gasket done--thought it was with a metal one, but turns out it was with another paper one, so I don't know how many miles I'll be able to go before I'm having the motor ripped out again...

The more popular one is the Lexus/ 550 injectors with a boost controller, and lastly exhaust, that in my opinion a very good "cheap Mod" That should you tie you over. Your finace won't help? good start....................:3d_frown:

Well he's HELPING because he's the one who is swapping the motors, but he's convinced that a bone stock GTE is plenty good enough for me. But Supras are meant to go fast, right? And half the fun of me getting a Supra in the first place is to mod it so that it can be faster.

2.5" intercooler piping, larger intercooler, BIC (http://www.bicperformance.com/) recirculated divorced downpipe, highflow 3" cat, 3" exhaust..

all that will net you around 300hp and 10psi (atleast it does for me)...

you're looking at about $100, but after that it's all raising the boost, fuel and tuning to reach 350hp..

OMG I just realized how snobby that sounded lol! I was trying to emphasize the helping part because he says he's helping, but I'm not getting much of anything from him. Sorry. You guys have been great! I've gotten more info from a forum in a few hours than I have in a week from him!

I only wished that I could get a woman that like cars, Like a Supra for an example. No, you didn't sound like a snoob, You outta see some of the repsponse's I get from other members, mostly from the "Other" forum. Your doing just fine, I have a bad habitt of not reading everything.
