Lol if anyone answers that... :3d_frown:

Anyways, I am planning on wiring a kill-switch, and found a DPST switch in an old toolbox. It has four terminals instead of two, so can i use it? I could just use two of the terminals and leave the other two bare, right? I don't know much about electrical, and the electrical section is down, or i wouldn't have posted in tech. Thanks:icon_bigg

Sorry, forgot to post the switch model. It's a McGill brand switch, with a bat style throw handle. Model number 0121-0001.

I sure hope nobody answers that. Mine is hidden for a good reason.
Why not get a switch that will work for what you want? Switches don't cost much at all, and you really only need an SPST for what you want to do.

this is for me to know and you to find out.

on my 88 firebird, my kill switch was under the hood. it was a marine one with a removable key when off. mine was installed not so much for antitheft but had a weird power drain that killed the battery overnighnt.

Most kill switches are easily defeated, i.e. they interupt the starter when you could just push start the car. Also, most are in a hidden but easily accessible place, so easy to find. Best place is in plain sight, but disguised.

I myself don't run one as I used to run one on my truck. Broke the switch one day and had a fun time bypassing it... Plus, the supra doesn't have a battery in it right now :p

Well i already have an immobilizer run to my fuel pump, so even if they find this next one, which will be to my ignition, they won't get much farther than the end of my street. As for theives push starting it, I have an automatic and would love to see someone clutch-kick it lol. I'm fully aware that i can go buy a SPST, unless you know something i don't and hardware stores stopped selling switches. I just want to know if there is a way to use the one i have. I don't feel the need to spend more money on my security system, as i'm confident in my work and an sure the switch i have now will do the job. I'm not a hoarder, and i'll probably just throw this switch away. However it is a $20 switch, and if i can find a way to use it, why not?

Yes, the switch will work.

Our fuel systems are rise on demand so if you have an FP kill switch, they won't even get out of your driveway if the car has been sitting for more than an hour... :)

For you Maft Pro users that are utilizing the timing control/monitor, just take the Maft with you at night. She won't run without it.

i just remove the ecu at night..... steal my car now sucka

Think it was Escalades that the security system and key was matched to the ECU...so thieves just swapped ECU's and drove away...

Also, you're not going to beat a tow truck if they REALLY want your car ;)

lol shit you don't F around, and I agree with being in plain sight but disguised, I used a trunk release button from a late 80's GM lol the little yellow one they stick in the glove box.

Also I am interested in a FP kill switch, is there anything important or tricky to the wiring?

Is it better to kill the starter, fuel pump, or ignition?

well if you kill the starter, you will still have battery power if someone tires to hot wire you car, as it will do nothing.

if you kill the fp, ignition, or the ecu, it will crank till the battery dies.

I am using this system for my fuel pump switch, a friend helped me wire it in. It works great. The only change we made (and it was my friends idea) was to substitute the flashing led to the eyes of my dash buddy. I have a plastic Furby happy-meal toy on my dash, so we gutted it and hot-glued a non-flashing led where one of it's eyes went. It's fucking creepy. lol
