Anybody know where I can get wing mounts for my CF rear wing?
I've been looking but all I can find is mounts w/ wing. :icon_mad:

The mounts that came with the wing are getting kinda thrashed. I need the mounts to be no higher then about 3 or 4 inches.

Failing that anybody know of any plans to build your own wing mounts? I was thinking of something like they have on drifters and nascars with the turnbuckles so you can adjust the pitch of the wing and dial in the amount of downforce your looking for. I've seen these kind of mounts on someons chin spoiler but not on the wing. (although my wing is kinda unique).

thanx

it's not that hard anymore guys. I've been experimenting, and you can make your own windtunnel in about 5 minutes:

Make your own windtunnel
Step 1:
find empty pringles can, failing that buy one and throw out the pringles (you won't be needing them for this project)

Step 2:
cut the metal end off the pringles can, make sure the edge is smooth as not to hinder wind resistance

Step 3:
take a computer fan and glue it or tape it to the end of the can. The fan should be a 50 or 60mm unit, if your pringles can is larger buy the fan accordingly

Hook your fan up to a single or doubled-up AA battery and take a minute to make sure everything is running correctly. Make sure the air is blowing THRU the pringles can not being sucked OUT of it.

Now hold this windtunnel in front of your wing and begin adjusting the angles for optimal downforce!

*****makes a great gift*****

Actually, it is for an aftermarket wing (CF) and I have occasional access to a wind tunnel (a friend is studying aerodynamic engineering and has access to a number of different facilities).

So again, if anyone has anything on this subject I'd really appreciate the info.

Efficient as possible would mean as little downforce (read: drag) as possible. The best gas mileage would be with a stock 89+ wing, which has been shown to reduce rear turbulance and decrease the coefficient of drag by .01. An optimal setup would also include removal of both side mirrors and the 3 wiper blades and a more inclusive front engine under cover. I bet all that would gain a couple mph in top speed alone.

No one makes an adjustable wing mount. Your just going to have to make it yourself. Go get some 1/4" thick aluminum sheets. Draw it the way you want the mount to look like, pay someone to laser cut it for you and install it. Just make sure you cut the adjustablility holes into the mounts. That way you can adjust the wing without having to do some special adjusters or sliders, which just makes it more complex.

Since you do have access to a wind tunnel, why not just build an entire underbelly air management system while your at it? That would really improve your aerodynamics and increase downforce at the same time.

^^^What he said
If yo ucould actually make a belly pan for the car, possibly going from right under the front bumper and ending around the rear dif with maybe a rear diffuser, you could gain some serious aerodynamics. Maybe have some louvers tho in the pan facing the rear so any air that wants out can escape and help suck the car lower to the ground. Only problem is it might get dented from little rocks and or anything else you run over.

I was just hinking, if you were to take the wing off completely would you not gain more aerodynamics and get better fuel mileage and all the jazz he wanted in the first place? Add a carbon rear under-diffuser like the S2 kit has and you're golden.

Not true, its the pre89 wing that reduces drag. The 89+ wing actually gives more downforce.

pre89 drag coefficient: .32
wingless: .33
89+ : .34
