What's up guys? It's been a while since I've been on. I got ripped off when buying a set of solid Motor Mounts from someone on this board by the name of Evildoer (go figure). I lost interest for a while, but I decided to finish my project. I have no idea where to buy a set of Semi-Solid motor mounts, or even fully solid mounts for that matter. If you can help out in any way, I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

I'm in thesame position as I pulled the engine to rebuild it and my motormounts were a wreck.

So i'm looking for semi-solids also. Total solids can be found, but I heard that without the damping of the rubber the car is not much fun to drive when cruising.

Bah! I have solids on my car. I LOVE them. Cruising is not an issue - they vibrate a bit at certain RPMs, but not all the way across the band - the benefits of driving a naturally balanced inline 6. I imagine they'd be pretty harsh on a little 4 banger or a big V8, though!

They make the car feel more like a sports car - you can feel the growl when you stomp on the throttle. I was never fond of the Grand Touring squishy suspension and feel, and this helps me get rid of it.

They give you more power to the ground, as your engine isn't spending precious power vibrating rubber. They don't break - we've had people here with enough power that they run through stock mounts about every 6 months. Your engine is mounted to the frame, so it doesn't move in ralation to the frame - meaning you don't need a flex section for your exhaust anymore, and you don't need flexible hangers for your enhaust either, you can just weld it right onto the frame if you decide to. They are also a fraction of the cost of new stock mounts.

Agreed! I have Delrin mounts that I paid too much for and they feel fine. Imagine having a front tire out of balance... they vibrate much less than that. In fact, the only time I only really feel it is on accelleration through a particular rpm when I'm paying attention to going fast anyways.

The semi-solids are just as easy - possibly easier - to make yourself. Delrin isn't that tough to get hold of, just sandwich a layer (or two) in between two chunks of aluminum, and keep the overall length the same. That's how the SC ones were made.

I don't think anyone offers them for sale any more. I certainly haven't seen them for sale anywhere in quite some time.

The AAP mounts were not Delrin between Al, they were neoprene rubber between Al.. The Delrin ones were a solid chunk of Delrin plastic, that feel as hard as Al. Should be easy to make either way: find chunk(s) of material, print sizes from FAQ, take to machine shop or machine yourself.

So if I were to make then with neoprene between is there a compression factor that has to be added in to make the right hight? Or for those who made solid ones did you measure from a motor mount that was out of car? Im assuming so sorry if this is kinda stupid question

Yes, there will be a compression factor. I'd just build up to the height listed plus a bit depending on how much neoprene you use - the thicker you make the neoprene plate, the more extra you should add in.

I made the dimensions from a stock mount, and allowed for some compression on the stock mount.

It's not *that* big of a deal, they mount into a slot on the frame, so you get some wriggle room if you aren't dead on.
