does it matter if the car is warmed up or not? I think it would kinda....

although I've got a VPC with the temp locked.... so would it matter?

see, that's what i originally thought, but then i was wondering if temp had anything to do.....


is there anyway to measure timing while in boost, other than on a dyno?

The TSRM says to have the engine at operating temp when checking/adjusting timing. It's not a hardship to do it on a warm engine, is it? LOL. Here is the procedure, courtesy of CygnusX1:

Yes, with the T1-E1 bridged it will hold the timing steady regardless of coolant temperature or even RPM (as long as the IDL in the TPS is closed).

With a non-functional IDL, it will not hold the timing at all, even with T1-E1 bridged.

whats an idl?, my timing is still fidgity even with t1-e1 bridged?

IDL is the switch connection inside the TPS, that tells the ECU the throttle is fully closed (idle). Easiest way to check this is to short the T1-E1 connector (as when doing timing) and look at the check engine light. If it gives no codes, all is good. If it gives you code 51, the TPS needs to be adjusted or replaced before you can set your timing correctly.

However if your timing is jumpy, even if everything else seems good, remove the CPS cover and feel for any freeplay in the rotating assembly. The gears on the cam/CPS can wear out, making for a lot of slop.
