its about an hour hour and a half job but you need a shop press to install the new bearings. if you have the right tools, its a piece of cake.

If you do change the Bearings get them from mr-auto-parts.com, I found them to be the cheapest there, and plus they have a lot of other stuff for our car. I have ordered a crap load of stuff from them and you get it with in two days with free shipping.

well, i had my car on the lift in class, and i was turning one of the front wheels, and you could hear a scraping noise... not sure if it's just the pads rubbing or the bearings.... pads are getting small, but the warning clips are not touching.

Don't pay a shop to do it. With the labor involved, you can purchase your own press and diy, $99. Then you can charge friends and neighbors to do all of theirs too... :bigthumb:

^^^ That's excellent advice ! I've always done what I can at home, buying the tools needed, learning and saving $$$ along the way. Now I have a hell of a tool collection. I figure I've save over the years maybe 1, 1 & 1/2 million $$$.:biglaugh:

I got my own press from harbor frieght. pretty nice deal... it's like a 12 toner or somin. but I still need to pay a machine shop to press my axle bearings in/out for my truck. those semifloater bearings are a BIATCH. i heard it takes a 20 ton press for them and specialo adapters. I haven't looked at the front bearings yet to see if I can do them on my press or not.

Believe it or not all of the stuff that i have ordered from Mr-Auto-Parts.com at a discount all have been Genuine Toyota Parts, I just ordered a new Brake Master Cylinder for $60, i got it and it said Toyota and ASIAN on it. Worth every penny. If you decide to get your self a press, check Ebay. There is a lot of tool stuff on there.

It's not that much work, maybe two hours. I took mine out without a press (just put the hub on a piece of huge pipe and smacked the crap out of it. I put the new one in with a press, but I still felt it didn't go in far enough. I ended up getting a 10ft long pipe as a cheater bar on the hub nut and got it in even more.
Never had a problem with it again.
